Tudor Griffiths clamps down on safety with Hyva skiploader12 November 2014

Construction industry services provider Tudor Griffiths has taken delivery of its first Hyva skiploader, citing build quality and safety as the reasons for selection.

Mounted on an 18-tonne gvw Volvo FL chassis, the Hyva 2012XL skiploader joins the Ellesmere, Shropshire-based operator's mixed fleet 60 trucks, 14 of which are new this year.

The narrow cab Volvo-Hyva combination has an unladen weight of just over 10 tonnes, but it is the safety features that caught Tudor Griffiths' attention.

It is thought to be the only skiploader to include integral, fully adjustable container clamps to secure the skip to the deck.

Group transport manager Jamie Jones says the clamps provide "a highly significant advantage" for load security and safety.

And he adds: "Once in position, the load being carried is held as stable as we can practically make it."
