Turners Soham breaks through 300 DAF CF barrier 20 April 2011

Turners (Soham) has recently taken delivery of its 300th specialised DAF CF FTP tractor unit – making the Cambridgeshire haulier one of the largest fleet operators of FTP CFs in the UK.

Franklin Turner, director of Turners (Soham), has been quick to praise the unit's 17.5in wheels and tyres on the mid-lift axle for reduced weight, compared with the traditional 22.5in wheels, he explains.

The CF will be deployed on bulk tanker operations. and has been specified with the Spacecab and AS-tronic automated gearbox – matched to DAF's Euro-5 410bhp 12.9-litre MX engine.

"We've been using DAF CFs for a considerable time now and they have proven to be reliable, efficient and are popular with our drivers," comments Turner.

"Having a smaller lifting third axle gives us about 500kg extra payload, which gives us the advantage of maximising our fleet efficiency without any compromise in vehicle performance," he adds.
