TWT Logistics drives back to Mercedes-Benz20 September 2019

South Wales-based TWT Logistics Group has taken delivery of the latest of 12 Mercedes-Benz Actros commissioned within the last year, in a return to the marque for the operator.

Key to the switch was the appointment two years ago by local dealer Euro Commercials of Gary Clark, truck sales manager. Clark had previously worked for another brand and enjoyed a strong relationship with TWT’s managing director Trevor Taylor.

“The Actros is clearly a premium quality vehicle, and right up there with the best on the road. But this is a business in which people and leadership are every bit as important as the trucks themselves,” says Taylor.

“Gary has worked hard to win our business and we trust him to deliver on the commitments he’s made.”

At the end of 2018, TWT bought two approved used Actros 2545 StreamSpace tractors from the dealer, followed by four new 470bhp Actros tractors, this time with GigaSpace cabs, at the start of this year.

In July, TWT took delivery of a 26-tonne Actros with curtainside body, by Tiger Trailers, followed by two more GigaSpace-cabbed tractors, with 503bhp powerplants.

The latest additions are three Actros 2551 GigaSpace tractors, supplied on a rental agreement with Euro Commercials – TWT intends also to buy these vehicles at the end of the term.

All the vehicles are scoring well with the drivers, says Taylor, and the tractors are delivering mpg returns “in the nines”.

He adds: “These are still early days, but our new Actros look fantastic and are performing every bit as well as we’d hoped. Long-term reliability is going to be crucial, of course, and I’m confident these trucks are going to deliver on that score.”
