TyrePal TPMS alerts truck and bus drivers on the move09 June 2016

TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) specialist TyrePal has launched a range of systems for commercial vehicles and buses, designed to alert drivers to tyre pressure and temperature problems.

Peter Tillotson, business development manager of TyrePal, explains that it comprises a set of heavy-duty sensors that can either screw onto each tyre valve, in place of the dust cap, or be fitted to the tyre internally.

Data is transmitted to an in-cab monitor that displays pressure and temperature of up to 22 tyres, and alert levels can be set by the driver for high/low pressure and high temperature.

Sensors continue to monitor tyre pressure every hour while in sleep mode, ensuring that warnings are available immediately on vehicle start-up.

“Latest statistics suggest there are 283 fatal or serious road accidents each year related to wrongly-inflated tyres,” insists Tillotson.

“Despite this, drivers continue to use busy roads without checking the status of their tyres [and] for HGVs and buses, an accident can be even more dangerous.”
