TyreSafe attendees see new tyre tread system in action17 July 2015

Visitors to the recent TyreSafe industry briefing were treated to a sneak preview of a new drive-over tread depth measurement system.

The Hunter QuickTread system measured tread depth on 272 tyres in less than three hours at the event.

On arrival, attendees drove their car over QuickTread's measurement plates and their tread depths were automatically scanned and recorded.

QuickTread is fully automated and requires no manual intervention. As vehicles drive over the scanning plates at a normal workshop speed, readings are taken across the entire width of the tyre along a 50mm radial section.

Results are displayed on the system console almost immediately; they can also be printed or emailed from the HunterNet cloud-based system.

The system will be officially launched later this year and will be distributed by Pro-Align in the UK.

Paul Beaurain, managing director of Pro-Align, says: "With tread depth being a major focus for many organisations within the industry, the system received a great deal of attention and interest, and we look forward to bringing it to market."
