Updated FTA Drivers’ Handbook now available 10 June 2013

FTA (The Freight Transport Association) has published a new version of its Drivers' Handbook.

With the increasing volume of vehicles on British roads and burgeoning regulations making life more difficult for professional drivers, the aim of the handbook, says the FTA, is to help drivers do their job safely and responsibly.

Although not a comprehensive guide to road transport law, it does cut through the legal jargon in the areas that most affect drivers' operations, with FTA specialists providing sections on licences, hours regulations, tachographs and vehicle condition.

There is also advice on: accident management, breakdowns and vehicle theft; driving best practice, fuel efficiency and telematics; and fatigue, health and safety.

The new version contains fresh information on current legislation and new sections on PCNs, load security, roadside checks and driver conduct.

There is also additional information relating to driving best practice, reversing, urban driving, coupling and uncoupling and weather conditions.
