Fleet drivers (56 in 25 fleets across the US and Canada) with experience of trucks equipped with the SmartValve were invited to comment, and the majority said the unit made operations safer, easier and more time efficient.
The results show 96% preferring tractors equipped with SmartValve; 98% reporting that it reduces effort in cranking landing gear; and 96% stating that SmartValve saves time with coupling and uncoupling.
Nearly three quarters of drivers (73%) also said they made fewer trips out of the cab during coupling and uncoupling operations.
With SmartValve, drivers do not have to struggle against the weight of the trailer when cranking landing gear, enabling them to go straight to high gear.
By eliminating back strain, SmartValve also addresses a top source of trucking injuries and, according to its manufacturer, dramatically reduces workers’ compensation claims.
