Van operators hear best practice advice at NI event16 September 2019

Van operators attended a briefing in Northern Ireland recently, which was staged to share best practice information on van safety, compliance and fleet efficiency.

Organised by the Freight Transport Association, which runs the Van Excellence scheme, other speakers at the Belfast event included representatives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and sponsor Mercedes-Benz Vans.

Inspector Rosie Leech, of PSNI’s road policing team, described some of the issues that her colleagues regularly face when pulling over vans for roadside checks.

Matthew Beattie and Mark Laughlin of Beatties Distribution Services talked about their experience of the Van Excellence scheme and the positive effects it has had in terms of incident reduction and general operating efficiency.

Newtownabbey-based Mercedes-Benz Vans dealer MBNI Truck & Van discussed the brand’s latest developments in the field of van safety.
