Vauxhall vans tops retail sales with Vivaro in 2011 09 January 2012

Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles sold more vans at retail in 2011 than any other manufacturer, according to figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The Luton-based manufacturer sold 11,436 vans to small businesses last year with sales up 28.05% in a market itself up 8.32%. It is the first time in the company's history that it has finished top at retail on commercial vehicles over a calendar year.

Vauxhall topped the monthly sales charts in January, March, April, July, September and October. Year end retail CV market share of 16.35% was also an all-time record.

The Luton-built Vivaro was the best selling van in the retail medium van segment with sales up 58.05% year-on-year. According to Richard Collier, Vauxhall's national commercial vehicles sales manager, van sales were buoyed by the offer of four years' 0% APR finance, four years' free servicing, a four year warranty and four years' AA cover.

"It's fantastic news for Vauxhall that despite the uncertain economic outlook there's still strong demand for fuel efficient, high quality vans with low running costs and excellent manufacturer support," comments Collier.
