Vehicle recalls now online at Transport Engineer 21 April 2010

Latest recalls affecting commercial vans and trucks, as well as buses and coaches are now available on the Transport Engineer website, courtesy of VOSA (the Vehicle & Operator Services Agency).

Current recalls include Iveco Eurocargo (75e -140E), where the issue is concerns over incorrectly fitted panhard rod mounting bolts.

These may fail and lead to the rear axle developing lateral movement. The recommendation is to recall the vehicles likely to be affected and fit new equipment to the correct torque.

Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert III are also subject to recall for vehicle IDs: VF7******64003036 to VF7******9z027043 and VF3******64003062 to VF3******9Z026871 respectively.

The issue is water, which may ingress the brake drums, causing premature brake lining wear and thus reducing the braking effort at the rear wheels.

Also notified are Mercedes-Benz Axors, where wheel studs of Hendrickson axles fitted with 17.5in wheels were tightened to a torque higher than that specified.

And VOSA is alerting operators of DAF FTPCF85, FTPXF95 & FTPXF105 trucks that wheel bearings fitted to the second axle may fail, due to repairs carried out on the hub seals, where the bearings have not been replaced.
