The appointment of the West-Midlands based company comes after Voith’s announcement at last April’s (2016) Commercial Vehicle Show that it plans to enter the truck market.
Majorsell, which already distributes air braking components for trucks and buses, will distribute Voith compressors through more than 400 commercial vehicle factors in the UK and Ireland.
“On buses, the compressors are working all the time – opening and closing doors every time the vehicle stops,” comments John Domigan, Voith Turbo’s sales and marketing manager.
“In mainland Europe, our compressors are [also] proven in the truck market. For example, the Voith lightweight LP490 two-cylinder Euro 6 compliant compressor has been fitted as OE to Mercedes Benz Actros, Antos and Arocs trucks for about five years,” he continues.
“By holding stock at a central location we shall be able to distribute replacement Voith compressors speedily at a competitive price.”
Meanwhile, Domigan insists that Voith compressors offer advantages such as lower fuel consumption, low emissions, consistently high air quality, and longer duty cycles.
Voith’s intercooling system, he says, reduced power uptake during delivery. At the same time the compression temperature drops, allowing longer duty cycles and increased air delivery per hour.
“The newly developed idle system reduces fuel consumption by as much as one litre per 100 kilometres and – as a result of reduced temperatures – the engine oil is subjected to less stress,” he explains.
Oil cracking and the formation of harmful substances are therefore prevented, he says.
