Volkswagen embarks on new bodybuilder programme; launches Crafter tipper 28 April 2016

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles marked its return to the CV Show yesterday (27 Aril 2016) with the announcement of a new Converter Recognition Programme, building on its existing ‘Engineered to Go’ and ‘Engineered for You’ programmes.

Working with pre-qualified trusted partners, Volkswagen will offer a range of conversion products that, it says, will comply with the latest commercial and technical requirements, s well as meting VW’s extended quality requirements.

Nick Axtell, specialist sales manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, says the changes mean a new three-tiered approach (Registered Bodybuilder, Integrated Partner and Premium Partner) to suit differing converter agreements and to ensure that customers get a ‘one stop shop’ for converted vehicles from their chosen Van Centres.

“The alterations to the conversions offering will allow us to not only further develop current range of off the shelf solutions we offer, but also help us to deliver an improved customer experience,” states Axtell.

In separate news, Volkswagen also launched a new Euro 6 Crafter Tipper at the CV Show, developed in partnership with conversion specialist VFS.

The new tipper body is available in both single and double cab variants and uses a direct-acting, five-stage underfloor ram to power the load-carrying area, which has options including a cage assembly.

“Our new ‘Engineered to Go’ tipper ... delivers a hardworking, safe and flexible specialist load carrier,” states Axtell.

“The new conversion meets all of the same high build quality standards of a factory built vehicle, giving customers the peace of mind that it will get the job done without letting them down.”
