Volkswagen unveils new off-the-shelf conversions04 February 2019

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has expanded its range of off-the-shelf conversions to include tippers, dropsides and Lutons.

Under its revamped ‘Engineered To Go’ programme, the first conversions are all based on the Crafter model and are carried out by Ingimex. They are available to buy direct from VW Van Centres from a standard price list.

The Dropside, available as a single and double cab, is modified ready for the addition of fall arrest rails or tail-lifts, and costs from £31,470 (ex VAT).

The Tipper (pictured), also in single and double cab form, has its tipper functions controlled by wander lead; prices start from £33,310 (ex VAT).

The single cab Luton, from £36,220 (ex VAT), has a four-tier load restraint system for deck lashing, standard load lock lashing or for use with optional Ingimex telescopic load pole.

“Having these van solutions available as off-the-shelf products ensures we are able to respond to the demands of businesses quickly and efficiently,” says Nick Axtell, specialist sales manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

“Beyond our Engineered To Go programme there is still the option to customise a van even further to suit the needs of your business, with specialist and bespoke conversions.”

VW says the scheme will in future cover the range of Caddy, Transporter and Crafter models, with versions including fridge/freezer conversions, minibuses and a service workshop.
