Volvo 7900 city bus set for unveiling at Busworld show 31 August 2011

Volvo Buses says it will launch its Volvo 7900 city bus at the Busworld trade show in Kortrijk, Belgium in October.

The bus is lighter, which means fuel consumption levels have been decreased, while larger passenger numbers can also be accommodated.

For most bus operators, buses with the lowest possible lifecycle costs are the primary goal. Consequently, this requirement was highest on Volvo Buses' list when the new low-floor Volvo 7900 buses were being developed. And that is reflected in the choice of lightweight materials wherever possible.

The 7900 on display at Busworld will be a hybrid version, and arrives at a time when Volvo has confirmed sales of approximately 250 hybrids to a large number of cities in Europe and South America.

Volvo Buses will also be showing a new version of the Volvo 8900 low-entry bus. This type has no podesters and has a lower window line – a model specifically adapted to several markets in Central Europe.
