Volvo and Eminox team up to combat LEZ emission standards 28 March 2011

A partnership between Volvo Trucks, Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London and Eminox is helping operators comply with tougher particulate matter (PM) standards for the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ), scheduled to come into force on 3 January 2012.

Working with Eminox, Volvo has designed a particulate filter that helps a range of vehicles, including those featuring Euro 1 engines, to meet Euro 4 PM standards for trucks of more than 3.5 tonnes and buses and coaches over 5 tonnes.

Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London's nine dealerships are fitting the Eminox particulate filters, with a retrofit service. The filters are a direct replacement for the vehicle's original silencer, and Volvo's dealers are offering inclusive, fitted price quotations.

Eminox says that it supplies a reduced pollution certificate (RPC) or low emission certificate (LEC) after fitment of the PM filter, as evidence of compliance with the London LEZ requirements.

The comapny also explains that the retrofit filter is of the continuously regenerating trap type and is quick and easy to fit. It combines a ceramic oxidation catalyst with full wall flow filtration technology. Incidentally, it also virtually eliminates hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
