Volvo builds features for construction trucks06 July 2015

Volvo Trucks is targeting market share in the construction sector with five additional features for its trucks, designed to boost efficiency and performance on rough terrain.

It has already introduced a heavy-duty bumper for the FH series and the industry's first automatic traction control feature for the FMX range, with driven front axles including 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8.

Now, the truck manufacturer has announced five more features, which are:

  • Volvo Dynamic Steering for dual front axles (8x2 and 8x4 models)
  • Increased front axle loads, dual front axles (8x2 and 8x4 models)
  • Five-axle trucks (10x4 and 10x6)
  • Rear air suspension in combination with Volvo FMX all-wheel drive models
  • Electronic brake system for drum brakes.

"We want to be the leading brand in the construction segment, just as we are in long haul," says Ricard Fritz (pictured), vice president for Volvo Trucks Brand.

"These new options and models, in combination with our completely updated product range, clearly set a new standard for what a construction truck can deliver."
