Volvo Bus experiences breath of Clean Air 17 January 2011

Clean Air Power has signed a supply agreement with Volvo Bus for the company's dual-fuel engine systems.

Under the terms of the contract, Clean Air Power will supply 11 units – which enable heavy-duty diesel engines to operate on a combination of diesel and natural gas – to be installed in vehicles in Sweden by July 2011.

The agreement, worth around £200,000, follows a development agreement signed with Volvo Bus in July last year.

The new systems will be fitted directly onto buses on Volvo's production line and, once in service, the vehicles will be the first Volvo buses to operate on both biogas and diesel, as part of a Swedish government-backed project.

"We are delighted to announce this supply agreement, as it represents a further endorsement of the recognition that Volvo has for our technology and the work that we have done together to date," comments John Pettitt, CEO of Clean Air Power.

"It is the first time that we have received a supply agreement from this division of Volvo and [we] hope that this successful agreement may lead to further opportunities with Volvo Bus Corporation in the future."
