Volvo FMs top the agenda for Hottot Transport30 March 2017

Hottot Transport of Bovey Tracey in Devon has taken delivery of six Volvo FH 6x2 tag axle tractor units, citing vehicle quality and fuel efficiency as reasons for the marque’s selection.

Supplied by Stuarts Truck and Bus, Exeter, the Devon-based operator’s new additions join a 20-strong fleet and are heading its aggregate transport division.

The 500bhp FM tractors have Globetrotter XL cabs with high-spec interiors, including leather upholstery, air-suspended seats, fridges and TV preparation.

“When it comes to tipper work, I believe Volvo offers the most robust trucks on the market and the fuel efficiency is better than anything else we’ve tried,” says Rob Hottot, partner.

The specification, says partner Rob Hottot, enables the trucks to move to long-haul work, if needed. They are supplied on three-year contract hire with Gold R&M support. “We get drama-free transportation, which means we can concentrate on the business,” he adds.

Peace of mind also comes from the Dynafleet telematics system, says Hottot: “As all but two of our trucks are Volvo, we use Dynafleet for tracking, analysis of fuel consumption and driver reports.

“It is a great system and flags any minor issues well before they become problems. What’s more, the league table for drivers really encourages better driving practices, which not only resonates in terms of road safety, but also supports the business in terms of fuel efficiency and reduced wear.”
