The UK spec FMX 8x4, with X-High B-ride rear suspension, has been equipped with Volvo's I-Shift automated transmission and its sophisticated I-See software, which uses GPS to learn up to 5,000 km of road topography and is claimed to make significant fuel savings.

The FMX on show was fitted with a Boweld Taper Lite body and ProCover sheeting system, as well as Hyva FC137 tipping gear and Vishay PM Onboard's 1300 BulkWeigh1758 on-board weighing system, which together are the default selection for Volvo Trucks' ready-build dealerships scheme, aimed at reducing bodybuilder lead times.

It also includes Volvo's Euro 6 compliant 13 litre six-cylinder D13K420 engine (EGR and SCR after-treatment), rated at 420hp and developing 2,100 Nm of torque from 860 to 1400rpm.

As for the FMX Tridem 8x4, the 32 tonnes gvw truck has the X-High chassis and Volvo's new rear air suspension system. The cab shown was a high specification sleeper fitted with the Drive + package and Vlvo's Dynafleet telematics.

Power is provided by Volvo's Euro 6 compliant 13 litre D13K engine, rated at 540hp. Gearbox is the 12-speed I-Shift, with engine retardation provided by Volvo's VEB+ engine brake. Hub reduction axles have also been fitted.
