Volvo ready for take-off at Tip-ex 201913 May 2019

Volvo Trucks will be unveiling its factory-fitted PTO equipment on two FH 6x2 Lite Pusher Axle tractor units at the forthcoming Tip-ex and Tank-ex event (Harrogate; 30 May to 1 June).

The two FH models on display will feature a standard Sleeper Cab and the higher roofed Globetrotter option, with the latter carrying a twin hydraulic system for both tipper and walking floor trailer applications.

Both are powered by the latest Step D variant of Volvo’s D13K Euro VI engine rated at 494bhp, coupled with I-Shift automated gearboxes with long haul fuel economy software.

The 4,000mm wheelbase chassis have front parabolic spring and rear air suspension plus 550-litre fuel tanks and 64-litre AdBlue tanks. The vehicles also have alloy wheels, fitted with Michelin X Line Energy tyres, Jost air-operated sliding fifth wheels and gel batteries.

Two Volvo FMX 8x4 rigid tippers will also be on display, both of which feature Volvo’s new Euro VI, Step D chassis layout. One example will have the rear low level exhaust outlet and the other will show the vertical outlet option.

Completing the line-up, outside the halls, will be a gold metallic Volvo FH16-750 tractor with a matching Wilcox tri-axle tipper trailer. The combination marks 100 years in business for Ernest Cooper and will be used by the operator throughout the year to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
