Volvo Trucks launches FH heavy-duty bumper edition 09 April 2015

Volvo Trucks’ latest addition is an FH with a new heavy-duty bumper, which, claims the company, makes the truck better suited to rugged roads and rougher applications, such as construction and timber.

"The Volvo FH with the heavy-duty bumper boosts the effectiveness of our flagship truck by adding additional protection to its outstanding power, driving dynamics and cab comfort," says Ricard Fritz, vice president, Volvo Trucks.

The heavy-duty bumper – available on the Volvo FH and FH16 – is based on the same concept as the front of the Volvo FMX, with corners and skid plate made of 3 mm steel and a fixed footstep integrated above the skid plate. It also extends 132 mm forward to offer further protection for parts including the headlamps.

Having an elevated position, the truck's approach angle remains at more than 20 degrees on vehicles with the extra-high construction chassis, introduced in 2014.

A fully certified towing eye made of cast iron and designed to handle 36 tonnes, can also now be offered as factory-fitted option.

"The Volvo FH and FH16 with heavy-duty bumpers are well-equipped for tough environments, such as construction sites and off-road forestry operations," says John Comer, product manager for Volvo Trucks, UK and Ireland.

And he adds: "The truck also becomes more capable for heavy long-haul work in markets with rough road conditions."

The Volvo FH with heavy duty bumper will be unveiled at the Intermat exhibition in Paris 20—25 April 2015.
