Volvo unveils the world’s largest bus in Rio25 November 2016

Volvo has unveiled the world’s largest bus chassis, the Gran Artic 300, a bi-articulated chassis which is 30 metres long and can carry up to 300 passengers.

Launched at the FetransRio exhibition, in Brazil, the Gran Artic 300 has been developed for high passenger capacity transport systems, Bus Rapid Transport (BRT), where buses run on dedicated lanes.

“This vehicle will provide more efficient transportation systems, offering a higher quality for the passengers and improved cost efficiency for the transport operators,” says Fabiano Todeschini, head of Volvo Bus Latin America.

Also on show at FetransRio is Volvos new 22m, three-axle articulated chassis, the Super Artic 210. As well as the ability to carry 210 passengers, it has five doors, enabling better passenger distribution within the vehicle and facilitating boarding and alighting.
