Wabco announces South American exhaust brake deal 23 January 2012

Wabco is now partnering with an unnamed Brazilian manufacturer of diesel engines for commercial vehicles.

Under the deal, Wabco will supply the firm with exhaust brakes for a range of truck engines that meet the Euro 5 emission standards.

Engines equipped with Wabco exhaust brakes will initially be installed on a medium duty truck in series production at a factory in Brazil "operated by a major global manufacturer of commercial vehicles headquartered in Europe".

Reynaldo Contreira, Wabco South America business leader, explains that Wabco's exhaust brake technology controls the engine's ability to push out compression, so improving braking power and performance while increasing braking efficiency over the vehicle's full range of speed.

It thus also significantly extends the lifetime of the vehicle's brakes. In addition, Wabco exhaust brakes operate silently, helping to lower the vehicle's noise level, says Contreira.

"This new agreement marks yet another series adoption of Wabco's innovative exhaust brake technology, as we continue to globalise solutions that help manufacturers to deliver safer, cleaner, greener commercial vehicles in every region of the world," states Contreira.
