Walkers rates r2c Online for improving fleet management 22 August 2014

Palletised goods transporter Walkers Transport has gone live with r2c Online to improve the management of its fleet of 200 commercial vehicles.

The Leeds-based haulier, which maintains all its vehicles in-house, says that since implementation in July (2014), it has already started to see efficiency improvements.

"Things were too messy before," comments operations manager Chris Burley. "There was too much paperwork flying around and we really needed to streamline the business."

He says that r2c Online makes fleet management "much slicker" meaning that maintaining compliance has also been simplified.

"We performed a time and motion study, which showed that work was duplicated up to five times. Our processes are so much simpler now, which means we are saving time and money," states Burley.

"Less time is spent doing paperwork and more time spent actually fixing vehicles," he continues adding that with r2c Online, the operation is now saving 20 minutes per inspection and cutting the cost of defect repairs by £500 per month.

He also rates r2c Online's ability to electronically schedule repair and maintenance, allowing operators to move away from wall planners and spreadsheets.

Walkers Transport have also adopted the r2c Online Driver Pre-Use Checks module, which enables drivers to complete their daily walk around checks using a tablet or smart phone.

"This is a great time saver: there is no loose paperwork, and the fleet quality can be monitored better," comments Burley.

"Overall the fleet quality is improving. I would recommend r2c Online as overall it is a fantastic system which is extremely beneficial to Walkers"
