Warburtons takes fuel-efficiency prize at 2015 Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme awards 15 May 2015

Bread manufacturer Warburtons received a slice of the accolades at the 2015 Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) Awards, with its commercial vehicle fleet being judged the most fuel efficient.

The awards, which recognise fleet operators' efforts to reduce carbon emissions, are run by the Freight Transport Association. The results were announced on Wednesday (13 May) at the FTA's Logistics Carbon Reduction Conference.

Winners of the other five categories were: Wincanton (logistics carbon reduction); Morrisons (excellence in modal shift); Longcliffe Quarries (smaller fleet operator); Sainsbury's (green fuel and technology operator); and Commercial Group (logistics carbon innovator).

The Department for Transport's John Parkinson, director for motoring and freight, was one of the judges. He says: "These awards are extremely important to the logistics industry and are great for industry leaders pressing forward with carbon reduction who receive the recognition, hopefully encouraging others to increase their efforts."
