Waste management operator expands fleet with Volvo FE26 March 2015

Waste management and skip hire business Britaniacrest Recycling has taken delivery of a Volvo FE 4x2 skip vehicle, the 23rd Volvo truck the fast-growing business has acquired.

Supplied by dealer MC Truck and Bus, the vehicle has a 3.9m wheelbase chassis with skiploader bodywork by Hyva. This features high-pressure telescopic arms and a high-tensile steel platform, along with a hydraulic auto sheet system.

"We have FH, FMX, FL and now FE units and across the board I would say Volvo offers us good value for money. The trucks are reliable, robust, offer excellent fuel efficiency and hold a good residual value," says Richard Foss, director of Reigate-based Britaniacrest.

"Traditionally we used Volvo FL trucks for our skip services, but the FE with the I-shift transmission and the six-cylinder engine is quite something," adds Foss.

"The Euro 6 D8K engine produces great torque, has a better response at low rpm and, in combination with the I-Shift transmission and the exceptional manoeuvrability, I would say the FE is a big step forwards."

The company has nine more vehicles on order for 2015, including another FE 4x2, which will be supplied in roadsweeper configuration with conversion by Johnston Sweepers of Dorking.
