West Midlands Ambulance Service responds to Van Excellence aims06 August 2014

The West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) has joined the Van Excellence scheme, becoming the 75th accredited operator to join the scheme since its inception four years ago.

Run by the Freight Transport Association (FTA), Van Excellence is open to all van operators, regardless of size or sector – and ambulances are governed by the same rules as other light goods vehicles.

Congratulating WMAS on its accreditation, Mark Cartwright, FTA's head of vans, says: "It is particularly pleasing to see the commitment that WMAS illustrates in order to achieve the highest standards in such a critical operation and high profile fleet."

Van Excellence was created to promote high standards of van operation and driving by accrediting operators against an industry code of good practice.

The scheme is supported by ATS Euromaster, BT Fleet, Hertz Van Rental, Lex Autolease and TomTom Business Solutions.
