So impressed is the operator with its achievements that Whistl now says it expects all seven depots to be paper free by the end of this year.
With over 6,000 customers and 4 billion items processed each year, Whistl deals with more than one quarter of all addressed UK mail and turned to r2c Online to provide a solution to manage the compliance and maintenance of the fleet of trucks and trailers.
The system rollout began a year ago and, according to national fleet manager Baz Barrett, “time spent on paperwork has been cut by half”.
And he explains: “No paperwork is lost and no files are missing. We just have one easy-to-use platform where we can see it all.”
Mark Broad, transport manager at Whistl’s Warrington depot, says the system has also brought significant benefits from the fleet perspective, which comprises 27 trucks and 35 trailers.
“Before r2c Online, we would spend 30 minutes per vehicle inspection, updating our files, and we could easily lose two hours a week chasing repair vendors for paperwork,” he says.
“We now spend no more than 10 minutes per inspection and receive paperwork electronically. Our schedule is up-to-date and the time savings made mean no inspection, audit or documentation is missed.”
“Our aim is to have all seven depots entirely paperless by the end of 2017,” continues Barrett.
“To support this, the use of r2c Online will be written into our service level agreements with external repair agents.”
He says everyone in Whistl is “very happy” with the implementation.
“We work alongside suppliers who also use the system and that, in turn, makes our job that much easier.”
And he adds that r2c Online “is the platform to be on” for any business requiring online fleet visibility.
