WP Metals continues MAN tradition with TGM crane mount 15 December 2015

Following a review of its £1 million transportation systems, WP Metals has elected to continue running its own fleet and has acquired a new MAN TGM 18.290 4x2 flatbed with a truck-mounted crane.

Mark Hardy, operations director for the Walsall-based firm, says the new vehicle will be used in its fleet transporting steel tubing and pile casings nationwide.

“We are happy with the range of vehicles offered by MAN and the new TGM offered us a cost saving and greater efficiency,” he says.

“We have recently been awarded FORS [Freight Operator Recognition Scheme] recognition and the vehicle will be going into London, so has to meet the Transport for London regulations as well as being Crossrail compliant,” he continues.

“We will be maintaining our relationship with MAN and Aquila Truck Centres, at Tipton, for R&M and are already looking towards purchasing another vehicle in the near future.”

The new vehicle was specified with a Sleeper cab and front-mounted crane.

The engine selected is the MAN D0836LFL67, 6.9 litre, 290bhp Euro 6 unit delivering up to 1,150 Nm of torque and driving through a 12 Speed MAN TipMatic AMT (automated manual transmission).
