WS Dennison makes first new Volvo artic truck purchase 14 June 2012

Furniture distribution specialist WS Dennison has recently taken delivery of four Volvo trucks from Northern Ireland's Volvo Truck & Bus dealer, Dennison Commercials.

The four tractor units – two new FH-420 4x2 and two used FH-460 4x2 models – take the Dennison fleet to a total of 20.

These are the first Volvos purchased by the company and the two new tractor units are the first-ever artic vehicles in the Dennison fleet to be owned from new.

Before selecting the Volvo product, WS Dennison carried out an evaluation process, consulting with operators in the industry and test driving other manufacturers' vehicles. Fuel efficiency and driver comfort were the main assessment criteria.

"All of the recommendations that I sought out were very positive towards Volvo and Dennison Commercials," explains William Dennison, managing director of WS Dennison.

"However, when we took the Volvo FH demonstrator for a trial period, we found that the mpg was very favourable and the cab, from the driver's perspective, just had that little bit extra."

The two new tractor units have the Globetrotter XL cab configuration. As well as providing ample storage space, the Dennison specification includes a Driving+ package, in-cab fridge and comfortable overnight accommodation.

They also include the Volvo I-Shift automated gearbox and were factory painted in the company's yellow.
