XS Transport goes Asset Alliance route for latest Actros 01 February 2017

XS Transport has taken delivery of a Mercedes-Benz Actros 2545LS 6x2 tractor unit – its first under a three-year full-service contract hire agreement with Asset Alliance.

The Falkirk-based distribution and warehousing firm specified its Actros with the BigSpace cab (2.5-metre flat floor), including a fridge and Kelsa light bar).

Power comes from Mercedes’ 450bhp 12.8 litre straight six engine, driving through its Powershift 3 AMT (automated manual transmission) with PPC (predictive powertrain control.

XS Transport managing director Alan Taylor reports that the firm chose Asset Alliance following a recommendation from local Mercedes-Benz dealer Western Commercials, which supplied the truck.

“Western Commercials suggested Asset Alliance finance, and the company’s support has been fantastic,” he says.

“Contract hire works well for us as it takes away both the headache of fleet management, and the risks associated with purchasing outright – plus it means we can fix our costs for the duration of the contract,” he continues.

“Under the contract hire agreement with Asset Alliance, we have the option of replacing the truck at the end of each term, giving us flexibility to offer our customers a diverse and modern fleet suited to their logistical requirements, whatever they may be.”

The Actros joins a mixed fleet of 13 DAF, Iveco, MAN and Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles at XS Transport, ranging from 3.5-tonne curtainsided vans and 7.5-tonne rigid trucks up to tractors.
