Yearsley moves over to MAN tractor units 09 December 2011

Frozen food sales and distribution firm The Yearsley Group has, for the first time, taken delivery of a new fleet of MAN tractor units for its nationwide haulage operation.

Twenty new TGX 26.442BLS 6x2 tractors entered service at the end of October and are now operational, running out of five of Yearsley's 12 locations.

The new MAN fleet was delivered following operational trials against several other truck manufacturers, according to Mark Haslam, head of logistics.

Lowest whole-life costs – taking into account purchase price, residual values, fuel consumption and maintenance cost – were key in selecting MAN, he says, adding that positive driver feedback helped.

"This is part of our on-going strategy of replacing vehicles to ensure they remain as environmentally friendly and cost efficient as possible," says Haslam.

"These vehicles are the first Yearsley's have ordered from MAN and we believe that the TGX is ideally suited to our operation."
