Zenith Hygiene cuts insurance costs, thanks to TomTom 30 October 2012

A prominent cleaning and hygiene specialist has revealed how fleet management software has led to insurance savings of £78,000 in just two years.

In the first year, Zenith Hygiene Group negotiated a £50,000 premium reduction for its 119-strong fleet by implementing a risk management strategy, underpinned by TomTom's Worksmart – Eco solution.

The following year, the company's premium dropped by a further £28,000, as a result of claims costs cut by £136,000 – again due to the new software monitoring and improving driving performance.

"Our fleet insurance costs were increasing year-on-year, but implementing TomTom and effective change management have dramatically improved our risk profile by helping to reduce incidents of speeding, harsh braking, acceleration and cornering," comments Michael Rayner, Zenith Hygiene's operations director.

Among the other claims for TomTom fleet management technology are reduced operating costs – in terms of fuel consumption and maintenance – and better business efficiencies.

Live active driver feedback also engages drivers, according to TomTome – with the interactive approach yielding better results as the driver is alerted when driving in an adverse style, and a simple summary informs them of their progress.
