HACS Group declares first Harsh skiploader ‘an instant success’

The HACS Group of Ripley, Harrogate, has taken delivery of its first Harsh skiploader and says it is “an instant success”.

The new addition to the 20-strong mixed fleet is set apart by its full wireless remote control, according to the operator.

The feature is a “real advance” over traditional skiploaders, according to HACS Group director Michael Smith: “The driver can walk anywhere around the truck while loading or unloading a skip. He therefore has 100% vision around the entire vehicle working area, which is obviously an enormous benefit for operating safety.”

Mounted on an 18-tonne DAF LF chassis, unladen vehicle weight is 9,175kg. HACS Group says the DAF-Harsh combination is ideal for efficiency and versatility, particularly for restricted access locations.

The new skiploader is the latest to feature Harsh equipment: the operator has previously acquired underfloor tipping cylinders, sheeting systems and tractor wet kits from the manufacturer.

“We’ve always found Harsh equipment to be rugged, reliable and up to any job,” says Smith. Equally important, though, is the standard of back-up and support we get, which from Harsh is genuinely first class.

“The new skiploader is an exciting vehicle for us – it moves our business forward by a considerable degree.”
