Isuzu fuel tanker delivers for Darch Oil

Tankers Chassis
Yeovil-based fuel and heating supplier Darch Oil has taken delivery of a new oil tanker – its first on an Isuzu chassis – citing payload and manoeuvrability as key reasons for the decision.

Supplied by dealer Ferndown Commercials, the Isuzu Forward F110.240 11-tonne rigid truck is fitted with a 7,000-litre dual compartment Magyar tank body for the distribution of kerosene, derv and gas oil to customers in remote locations throughout the South West.

“We operate in many rural areas where tight turning circles and extremely limited access are regular occurrences. However, the Isuzu 11-tonner meets all our criteria in addressing these particular problems,” says Darch Oil’s Ivan Steel.

“It gives us the ability to get to places where other vehicles would struggle, as well as giving us much more operational versatility. The Isuzu-Magyar combination allows us to maximise the payload by carrying two different types of fuel in one delivery.”

The driver is impressed with the vehicle’s versatility, adds Steel, and with the pumping equipment which has a 200ft hose and full remote control.

The truck is expected to cover 40,000 miles a year and will remain in service for up to 12 years, at which point the Magyar tank body will be removed for a second life on a new chassis.
