Supplied by Brighouse-based dealer Northern Commercials, the new additions to the operator’s 700-strong fleet employ Iveco’s Hi-SCR technology, cited by Dawsonrentals as key to the deal.
Hi-SCR (selective catalytic reduction) uses passive regeneration of the diesel particulate filter and, says Iveco, this means the Eurocargo is the only Euro 6 medium-range truck to comply with emissions standards with a single anti-emission system.
“The Hi-SCR system was a huge draw for us,” says Paul Shires, managing director at Dawsonrentals Sweepers.
“The low speeds involved in sweeper operations means downtime for forced regeneration can be a frequent occurrence. With Hi-SCR, there’s no need for our customers to stop to regenerate, and drivers don’t have to push any buttons to operate the system – it’s the perfect solution for the job.”
Johnston Sweepers supplied bodies for 40 of the new left-hand drive trucks, with the remaining six mounted by Scarab.
The vehicles are equipped with the Tector 7 engine driving through a 12-speed EuroTronic automated transmission. Output is up to 220bhp at 2,500 rpm, and up to 800 Nm of torque between 1,250 and 1,900 rpm.
The vehicles will be in service for a minimum of five years, with all service and maintenance carried out by Iveco dealers.
