In a first for road sweepers manufacturer Scarab Sweepers in the UK, the firm has selected MAN TGM chassis to showcase its M6 and Magnum sweeper equipment.
Two new demonstrator vehicles are already in service and have been attracting interest from municipalities and private contractors across Europe.
Nigel Proctor, product manager at Scarab, says the company expects 20 MAN TGM chassis to be in service with operators in the UK and mainland European before the end of the year.
The first of the two TGM 15.250 4x2 BLs, with C Day Cab, is bodied with Scarab's hydrostatic Magnum, while its stable-mate has been fitted with Scarab's twin engine M6 body.
"We wanted a truck that would be accepted in as many European markets as possible," explains Proctor.
"MAN's middleweight TGM chassis provides us with the best generic fit. It's a nicely proportioned chassis, making installation of the equipment an easy affair," he adds.
"Also, no AdBlue equipment expedites this task still further and I know customers also welcome the operational simplicity of MAN's EGR [exhaust gas recirculation] system. I have found that if our customers like the chassis, then they tend to like the equipment, too."
