Atkins is a board advisor to several companies, event host, and creator of the documentary series ‘Motorsport in the Electric Age.’
Key sponsors DAF Trucks and Road Haulage Association (RHA) will serve as judges to the ‘Safety Innovation’ and ‘Future Leader’ awards respectively.
Meanwhile, Beverley Bell Consulting and Training is the category sponsor for the ‘Road Transport Engineer of the Year’ award.
Additional sponsors include Net Zero Week 2025 and Energy Security and Green Infrastructure Week 2024 founded by Shawn Coles.
“I am proud to sponsor the Society of Operations Engineers’ 2024 Awards, celebrating the role engineers play in the path to net zero. While policymakers and industry leaders often command the spotlight in sustainability, it's the engineers who are the true, often unsung, heroes - installing, maintaining, and optimizing the critical assets and infrastructure that drives real progress. Their work deserves recognition every day, as they are the backbone of our journey toward a sustainable future," added Coles.
The awards ceremony will also include two keynotes from the SOE’s senior leadership. Howard Seymour, chair of the board, will share his expertise on the issues facing the safety landscape, offering perspectives influenced by his career. Additionally, Emma Thompson, executive director of the SOE, will deliver a keynote focusing on broader challenges and opportunities in the safety sector.
The awards are supported by several organisations, including the Safety Assessment Federation, Society for the Environment and Irtec.
The 2024 Safety & Resilience in Engineering Awards will take place on 17 October at ThinkTank, Birmingham Museums.
