Dr Will Murray, research director of eDriving Fleet, an expert in commercial road risk management and a visiting fellow at universities in the UK and Australia, has died. He was a founding member of the charity Brake.

MAN Truck & Bus UK managing director Simon Elliott has left the company just two years after his appointment from within parent Volkswagen Group. No successor has yet been announced.

ACEA (the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association) has re-elected Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler, as its president for 2017.

Matt Sercombe and Dr Paul Zanelli have been appointed to lead TRL’s infrastructure and engineering & technology divisions respectively, while also playing leading roles in TRL’s focus and engagement with surface transport and related markets.

Sercombe joins from TfL (Transport for London), where he has been head of tunnels and structures across London for the past five years.

Zanelli joins from the Transport Systems Catapult where, as chief technical officer, he led the development of the company’s technology strategy for intelligent mobility.

Chris Smith has joined Totalkare as after-sales operation manager, having worked in the commercial vehicle sector, including in bodywork and tail lift repair, for several years.

Harry Garraway has qualified as the youngest master technician in the Volkswagen Group, having risen from apprentice to master technician in just 12 months, with Heritage Volkswagen Van Centre Bristol. He also won a gold medal at the Skills Show.

Autoglass has appointed Tim Camm as technical training manager to lead a team of 25 technical trainers and four distribution centre trainers across the UK. He will be responsible for delivering ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) awareness training to all technicians at Autoglass.

Sam Prothero is new retail bus and coach sales manager for Volvo Bus, covering the south west, and south and mid Wales. He previously worked at commercial vehicle organisations, including Lex Commercials, DAF, Isuzu and Iveco.

Marshall Fleet Solutions has promoted Adam Jones to the newly created position of head of account management (sales) for its new team at the Cambridge-based company. He was formerly key account manager, and previously worked for Marshall Fleet Solutions for 10 years prior to a 12 year stint as director at Climate Control Solutions until 2015.

Andrew Goodwin will be joining BT Fleet as sales director. He was formerly business development director with Lex Autolease, heading up new business in the Mega Fleets team and prior to that worked at Arval.

Meanwhile, Cheryl Feely-Jones has moved up to BT Fleet account management director; Paul Browne becomes bid and governance director; Richard Guest takes over as finance director, and Ian Martin expands his marketing responsibilities to become strategy, transformation and marketing director.
