Arne Knaben is the new managing director for Volvo in the UK. He takes over from Ulf Magnusson, who is now senior vice president of Volvo Buses, Europe.

Cartwright has appointed Nick Breeze as regional rentals sales manager based in Northampton and focusing on the midlands. He has 15 years' experience working with large corporate rentals firms.

Harry Bradshaw and Martyn Reeves are the new joint owners of Hampshire-based commercial vehicle rear safety step supplier Handistep. Bradshaw has been a director of the company since it began, and also runs Ringwood-based engineering firm Walker Scott, which manufactures Handistep's products along with electrical wiring harnesses. Reeves is a director of dry freight bodybuilder Bevan Group, based in Halesowen, West Midlands.

MC Group has appointed Peter Lowe as new business development manager in the Portsmouth and Burgess Hill area. He takes over from Jon Rolph, who becomes truck sales executive, responsible for Volvo and Isuzu.

Louise Tarrier is the new chief financial officer at Eberspächer UK. Meanwhile, Ian Maylett, Ben Moore and Stephanie Gerrish have been appointed sales manager, design engineer and technical administrator respectively in the military air conditioning business unit.

Two specialists have joined the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI)'s heavy duty vehicle (HDV) transport technology programme. Project manager David Butler and transport strategy analyst Matthew Joss will both support programme delivery.

Kevin Smith is now responsible for the bus and coach market at leather manufacturer Muirhead – having moved from Grammer Seating Systems, where he looked after UK and European sales.

Jamie Carr has joined Truck-Lite Europe as its new programme manager, working with large OEM clients, including MAN and Daimler. He is responsible for developing and launching new products, focusing on rear lamps and side markers.
