The Transport Manager has a key role in keeping our front line services operational.
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to hold the Operators’ Licence for Islington Council and be responsible for ensuring that the Council’s Vehicle Fleet is managed, maintained and repaired according to council, statutory and regulatory guidelines.
You will manage the day to day operation of the transport workshops and stores and be responsible for timely and planning, instigation and recording of all vehicle inspections, servicing and testing.
The Transport Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the vehicle workshops, stores and transport department including the budget (Approx. £4m).
Manage the workshop and transport personnel ensuring that adequate staffi ng levels are maintained at all times between 06:00 and 19:00 including on call fitters 24/7 and a Saturday shift.
Oversee the testing, security, suitability, condition and correct use of all workshop tooling and equipment, providing suitable working practices and equipment.
This will be accompanied by experience in the management of a municipal vehicle fl eet and fleet management systems, all in accordance with the scope of the Opera-tors’ Licence, the requirements of the traffic commissioner and VOSA.
** Please note this post currently attracts a market supplement of 17.5% of the salary paid in monthly instalments in addition to salary. The Market Supplement is reviewed each year in the light of market factors and vacancy rates.
