A1 Group takes first Renault truck for three-year evaluation06 March 2015

Waste management business A1 Group has taken delivery of its first Renault truck, a 26-tonne Range C, complete with a Whale vacuum tanker for drain and cesspit work across London.

Supplied by Renault Trucks South, Wokingham-based A1 Group's C380 6x2 rear steer vehicle will operate for three years and will be evaluated against similar Mercedes and Volvo tanker vehicles.

The truck is fitted with a side sensor and four-way camera to achieve FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) accreditation.

Dean Knott, A1's operations manager, says he decided on the company's Renault after seeing a Range C at a launch event.

"I've also heard great things about the new Renault Trucks Euro 6 range, so I wanted to bring one on board and put it head to head with a Mercedes and Volvo, and see which one performs the best."

Service and support were key factors, too, he adds: "We have been let down badly by other manufacturers and dealers in the past. The service and help offered by Renault Trucks South has been second to none."
