Aberdeen Council rolls with Wheely-Safe system for van fleet23 July 2019

Aberdeen City Council is fitting Michelin Tyre Pressure Management System (TPMS) Light Fleet across 200 new Renault vans, to improve fuel efficiency and extend tyre life.

Developed by Michelin licensee Wheely-Safe, Michelin TPMS Light Fleet has been specified for all Renault Kangoo, Master and Trafic vehicles joining the fleet this year.

The system uses sensors in place of valve caps, which are then paired to a small solar-powered windscreen display to give visual and audible alerts to drivers.

Fleet manager Willie Whyte had deployed earlier versions of the TPMS in previous roles and, he says, “on both occasions, it brought significant benefits to the fleets I was managing”.

He adds: “I’m confident our focus on tyre pressure management will deliver savings to our vehicle operating costs. It also boosts safety and reinforces our duty of care to drivers.”

The council also plans to trial a Wheely-Safe system on its HGVs later this year.
