AECOM awarded five-year contract to manage FORS15 January 2015

Transport for London (TfL) has appointed infrastructure services firm AECOM to manage the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) for the next five years, in a bid to expand the accreditation scheme across the UK.

AECOM will run the scheme in conjunction with the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport (CILT) and Fleet Resources.

FORS was launched in 2008, initially for operators of HGVs, vans, minibuses and coaches in the London area. It has 210,000 accredited vehicles.

TfL's Leon Daniels says: "This concession is good news for the future of road safety and the wider impacts of freight and fleet operations, not just in London, but across the country.

"FORS' success will be enhanced and AECOM will help this award-winning scheme expand nationwide to the benefit of all operators and road users."

AECOM, along with CILT and Fleet Resources, will operate as the FORS Community Partnership. AECOM and TfL will jointly manage the scheme until the partnership takes over on 16 February.

"As a company committed to improving safety in transport, we are delighted to deliver such an important scheme," says Richard Robinson, AECOM's chief executive for civil & infrastructure in EMEA.

"Through its standards, accreditation and promotion of good practice, FORS has contributed to safer, greener and more efficient road fleet operations in London, and we look forward to growing the scheme outside the capital."
