Aldi chooses Carrier Transicold and Gray & Adams23 November 2016

Supermarket chain Aldi has taken delivery of 25 Carrier Transicold Vector 1950 multi-temperature (MT) refrigeration units mounted on 13.6-metre Gray & Adams semi-trailers, as part of a multi-site fleet upgrade.

“We operate a 140-strong all-Carrier fleet from Atherstone, and Carrier remains our lead supplier due to its reliability and first class service,” says an Aldi spokesperson, adding that its new assets will be split between its Bathgate, Swindon and Atherstone RDCs.

“The Vector 1950 MT systems give us the power we need to consolidate deliveries, making our fleet more efficient,” he continues.

He also says the equipment, with its patented E-Drive technology, has proved itself easily capable of coping with frequent door openings.

“We also opted for the low-noise specification to reduce unit sound emissions, given most deliveries take place in urban areas,” he adds.

This fleet upgrade is part of Aldi’s transition to multi-temperature refrigeration systems, the point being to improve flexibility for transporting a mix of ambient, chilled and frozen goods in single consignments.
