Arclid’s recommits to serious driver training for 201124 January 2011

Arclid Transport has pledged to spend more than ever before on driver training during 2011.

"We already have a successful driver training programme and our commitment for 2011 is to enhance that still further, ensuring that we are an example of best practice for the road haulage industry," states Peter Conway, manager of Arclid Transport.

Arclid has already set high standards. All drivers are qualified to NVQ Level 3, and have been enrolled on their second years Driver CPC training as mandatory career development requirements.

The result: the company claims it has achieved a16% reduction in fuel consumption over the past year.

"We monitor fuel efficiency as part of a comprehensive set of key performance indicators, which are designed to consistently improve not only fuel usage but also customer service and health and safety too," explains Conway.

"Our commitment to training means we have made major improvements in all these areas year-on-year, and we are now planning to take this success to the next level by investing in additional training in 2011," he adds.

"Our aim is to become both the most efficient and the safest road haulage company on the road."
