Arriva Southern Counties evaluates Wrightbus Streetlite Max 06 February 2013

Arriva Southern Counties has added to its door-forward Wrightbus StreetLites by taking an 11.5-metre StreetLite Max into the fleet for use initially at its Tunbridge Wells, Kent, depot.

The 45-seat bus has been fitted with a four-cylinder Cummins 207PS ISBe5 engine coupled to a Voith D854.5E four-speed automatic gearbox.

It is running alongside a fleet of Optare Versas bought for the service towards the end of 2011.

The company already runs StreetLite DFs elsewhere in the region, the first five 10.1-metre examples having entered use at its Gillingham depot 12 months ago.

These were followed by another five, but of the 10.8-metre variety, last August for use at Northfleet depot.

"As we already have experience of two versions of the shorter door-forward StreetLites in our region, the StreetLite Max will make an interesting comparison with these and with other vehicle types in our fleet," comments Arriva's regional publicity manager, Richard Lewis.

"We also have on loan and waiting entry into service a London-specification 10.2-metre two-door 29-seat StreetLite DF."
