The operator is saving more than a penny per litre on the two million litres of diesel and red diesel it uses each year across its 139-strong fleet of 96 heavy vehicles and 43 company cars.
The switch to onsite fuel storage, bulk fuel and fuel card provision is also giving the group full visibility over fuel use and expenditure, allowing better budget planning and minimising risk of fraud.
ASH Group’s waste management businesses operate as ASH Waste Services, Alan’s Skip Hire and Nationwide Waste Services.
With drivers refuelling at the pumps, costs were spiralling and budgeting was proving more and more difficult, so the group approached Certas Energy to help reduce fuel costs across the business.
Now, a 30,000-litre Kingspan DieselPro fuel storage tank has been installed at ASH Waste Services’ Wrexham site. Weekly bulk fuel deliveries from Certas ensure a reliable fuel supply; this is supplemented with fuel cards for drivers, with both fuel cards and bulk fuel priced on the daily PLATTS rate.
Fuel management technology within the tank provides ASH with visibility of stocks, as well as records of fuel dispensed.
For drivers refuelling on the road, ASH Group orders bulk volumes from Certas Energy’s Bunker Link Service with PLATTS-linked pricing. As well as ensuring all fuel is secured at the best price, drivers can collect the purchased fuel at 2,000 locations using a Certas Energy, Key Fuels or UK Fuels card for maximum convenience.
Drivers can also use the Certas fuel cards at high-speed HGV pumps at the Certas Bryn Lane bunker site, near the operator’s Wrexham facility.
