Axis Fleet Management places £13m order for MAN XLX tractors05 February 2015

Commercial vehicle hire business Axis Fleet Management has placed a £13 million order with MAN Truck & Bus UK for 200 Euro 6 tractor units.

The order – for MAN XLX 480 HP-44T 6x2 tractors and MAN XLX 440 Efficient Line 2 6x2 tractors – takes the Oxford-based company's fleet to 3,000 units, of which 90% are MAN vehicles.

David Potter, Axis Fleet Management's managing director (pictured, with Keith Sims of dealer HRVS), says: "When we found out that MAN had released the Euro 6 model with the new D26 engine, we knew we had to have it within our fleet."

Specification includes predictive cruise control to boost fuel efficiency: "Not only are we anticipating an improvement in fuel consumption, but we also have high expectations of the durability and longevity of these vehicles," adds Potter.

The company counts DHL and Norbert Dentressangle among its customers and is enjoying 30% growth year on year.
