Baker’s dozen expands Fraikin’s mobile support offering06 May 2020

Fraikin has added seven 3.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans and six new mobile technicians to its national network, bolstering the capabilities of its maintenance service.

The six new technicians increase Fraikin’s mobile maintenance team to 22. Each is accredited to level two of the irtec technician licencing scheme, the nationally-recognised accreditation for technician safety and competence in the road transport industry. Five have also completed both their level three and master technician training.

Darren Hall, Fraikin managing director, says: “Our techs are amongst the best qualified in the industry, with a diverse skill set, detailed technical knowledge and a complete understanding of new innovations and vehicle technologies. Increasing our mobile team helps to future-proof our maintenance offering, bolstering our ability to offer dedicated customer support across the UK and ensure more up-time for our customers. This expansion will enable us to keep ahead of the curve, allowing us to be both flexible and instantly reactive, which will be essential when considering the ever-increasing telematics capabilities across the industry.”

The additional vans and technicians will allow Fraikin to continue working with their customers on defect repairs and routine maintenance, with minimum disruption to customer fleets and maximum up-time.

The seven new vehicles increase Fraikin’s maintenance fleet to 24, split between Sprinter and Renault Master vans. Each new addition is equipped with a multi-purpose workbench and custom racking system built by Edström, including carry cases to store specialist equipment which can be taken direct to the vehicle under repair. The new racking system is also being retrofitted across the remaining vehicles in the fleet.

Fraikin’s team of technicians is spread across the UK in eight depots. They will be managed by a central team based at the company’s head office in Coventry (though currently working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic).
